Simmons sustained life-threatening injuries from a gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased at a local hospital.

The Sylacauga Police Department is requesting public assistance with obtaining information in an ongoing homicide investigation.
The City of Sylacauga has recorded its first homicide of 2024. At about 4:00 p.m. on February 26, 2024, Sylacauga Police Department responded to 306 S. Main Avenue, Sylacauga, Alabama, in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult female who sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim was identified as Tamekia Tana Fluker, 40, of Sylacauga. Ms. Fluker was pronounced deceased on the scene.
Investigators say upon further investigation they determined several rounds were shot from the street, in front of 306 S. Main Avenue, and the victim was struck inside the home.
Investigators say this is the second murder that has occurred at or near this residence involving a member of the Fluker family. On July 1, 2022, Nartavius Cortez Fluker-Smith, 22, was fatally shot while sitting in his vehicle in front of this residence. Fluker-Smith was the brother of Ms. Fluker. In the previous case, Sheridan Rashon Clark, 19, was charged in this case and arrested for Capital Murder and is currently in Talladega County Jail, with no bond, awaiting trial.

The Montgomery Police Department and the United States Marshals Service Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force was searching for the location of Bryant Lamar Harris for Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Building (13A-011-061) that took place on November 10, 2023. The offense occurred at a fast-food restaurant located in the 2800 block of East South Boulevard in Montgomery. After the shooting, Harris fled the restaurant parking lot in a brown colored Honda accord.
On Friday, December 8, 2023, at approximately 11:30 am, members of the United States Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force took Harris into custody at a residence located in the 500 block of Oak Street in Montgomery, Alabama. Investigators were acting swiftly to locate Harris and credit an anonymous tip provided by CrimeStoppers with information that was instrumental in locating Bryant Lamar Harris.

First responders immediately began rendering aid to the victim, unfortunately the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene. The victim was identified as Kylen Smith, 16.
Investigators say a witness on scene stated a male was observed leaving the scene in all black, wearing a black hoodie. Evidence collected has led Investigators to believe that the suspect was on foot at the time shooting and not in a vehicle. Investigators believe this was not just a random violent act and it is believed the victim may have known or associated with the shooter prior to the homicide.
The victim’s family is heartbroken as they approach the first holiday season without their loved one. They are seeking answers and ask for anyone with information to please come forward.
There is currently a $4,000.00 cash reward being offered in this fatal shooting. Central Alabama CrimeStoppers is offering a $3,000.00 cash reward and Prattville Mayor Bill Gillespie Jr. and family are offering a $1,000.00 cash reward for information that leads to an arrest in this investigation.

The Prattville Police Department is investigating a felony theft and seeks the public’s help with identifying the suspect.
Prattville Police Investigators released a photo of an unknown suspect wanted for a felony theft investigation. Investigators say the offense occurred, on October 29, 2023, at Lowes located at 2307 Cobbs Ford Road, Prattville, AL.
Investigators say the pictured suspect, identified as a black male, entered the business, stole a pair of Kobalt brand wire cutters, exiting the store. The suspect used the same wire cutters to cut a security cable to steal a tiller and pressure washer located on the exterior of the store. The stolen items were valued at $1,026.36.
The suspect is wanted for one counts of theft of property 3rd degree, which is a Class C felony.

The Prattville Police Department is investigating a felony theft and seeks the public’s help with identifying the two suspects.
Prattville Police Investigators released a photo of two unknown suspects wanted for a felony theft investigation. Investigators say the offense occurred, on October 7, 2023, at Home Depot located at 2710 Legends Parkway, Prattville, AL.
Investigators say the pictured suspects, identified as black males, entered the business, and placed multiple tools and various items with a value over $500.00 into a shopping cart. The suspects passed all points of sale and left the business pushing the shopping cart on foot, the suspects were picked up by an unknown subject driving a black in-color, Kia Optima with an automotive dealership drive-off tag from Gil’s Auto Sales.
The suspects are wanted for two counts of theft of property 3rd degree, which is a Class C felony.
